The Status of the Writing & Hiatus Notice

Hey guys! I’ll just start this out by saying that from November 1 to February 1, I’m not going to be forcing myself to make a blog or vlog entry every month, unless the mood strikes or I feel like posting an update on my work. I have a lot of writing stuff on my plate coming up!

November is NaNoWriMo, and during December (besides Christmas and birthday) and January I’m going to be editing Sign of the Sparrow and preparing my query letter for hardcore submitting. I’ve only queried two agents, and got rejected by both, and I want to make up for lost time. —EDITED 10/27/15—Also, I’ll be submitting one of my NaNoWriMo shorts to the Writers Digest Short Short Story Competition, and I’ll be sprucing one of them up for the December 14th deadline.—/EDIT—

Naturally, I want to point all energy towards all that, instead of worrying about finishing superfluous posts or videos. That said, the Dragon*Con video is still in the works, and will be uploaded eventually 😛

So, in an effort to shove off the procrastination that’s been hanging on the past TWO YEARS or so since my last agent submission, I started dredging up all my old leads towards potential agents, and articles on how to write query letters.

This is what I posted on my FB page this morning:

Starting to submit queries again. Trying not 2 be overwhelmed w/agent hunting and giving my letter an overhaul. Once more unto the breach! Prayers and well wishes are much appreciated! 😀 #amquerying‬

I’ve made a list of articles to refer back to during this endeavor, and I’ll share them here with you, in case you’re curious, or you’re chipping away at a query letter yourself:

After an hour or so of intense research, I realized that my checklist for this is more than “write query letter according to a template and run it by writer friends.” Suddenly the work was stretching out before me, taking much longer than expected and requiring a lot more elbow grease. And the whining attitude has consumed me, because it seems like I have so much to do and none of it will never be completed. *sigh* And right now I have this to say, based off a friend’s surprisingly accurate hoodie:

Pitching and revising query letters is easy. It’s like riding a bike, except the bike is on fire, and you are on fire, and everything is on fire. And you’re in hell.

Never ending table flip of ragequit
Flip all the tables forever

I need a lunch break.
