May 2023 Fly-By Status Report – The Search for More Money 2: The Searchening

    May 19, 2023 /

My continuing quest for gainful employment is not new. But I refresh this quest, this time with a new perspective on my career and my mental health journey. Maybe I’ll go into that later, but mostly I just want to write this out for the record. It’s not an easy or fun decision, and digging into it makes me a little morose, and I’m trying to be positive and focus on the fact that money is important and a good thing. As the job market happens to be abysmal right now, to help make myself more marketable, I’ve been taking a Coursera Google course on UX/UI, and I’m planning to…

There was a homey bustle to the start of school that I loved then and now. *happy sigh* Okay, so I haven’t been in…

    826 Valencia

    December 12, 2009 /

Another new little posting series: The Write Stuff, *groan* where I post interesting, quick morsels of info involving the grooming of the next generation of writers, anything from awesome teachers or inspiring stories, to non-profits, to anything else I think counts. What do you get when you cross learning to write with an abiding love for all things piratey? Why, 826 Valencia, of course! As one of the locations of the 826 National centers, they tutor kids in writing. Here’s a bit about 826 Valencia in their own words. From their website: Founded in 2002 by author Dave Eggers and educator Nínive Calegari, 826 Valencia is dedicated to supporting students ages…
