Julie and JuliaI love to blog, and honestly, watching “Julie and Julia” yesterday just fueled the fire. It was about good food, book publishing AND blogging, among other things! Needless to say, I love it when favorite things come together. ^_^

On that note, I just wanted to share a few blog entries I ran across recently.

Of course, I’m always on the lookout for seasoned writers on the web; people who have been around the block a few times and know the world and know the life, and this is a great opportunity to introduce one of the ones I follow:

Cures for Writer’s Block & some Preventatives. ~ I first heard of Laurel K. Hamilton from an avid reader friend, who led me to her blog, saying I would appreciate the interesting insights into an author’s life and writing process. I confess, I haven’t read any of LKH’s books, but I have really enjoyed reading her blog and tweets. This article in particular (as it says) covers some of her methods of breaking or staving off writer’s block. I always like hearing about other people’s writing methods: broadens the mind.

This one has more to do with writing letters than writing books, but it is incredibly compelling, and it shows what a difference one person can make:

Sincerely, John Hughes. ~ For those who don’t know, John Hughes was a legendary writer and director in American cinema, famous for capturing the spirit of the American teenager in classic 80s movies like “The Breakfast Club” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” He recently died of a sudden heart attack at the age of 59. In this remarkable entry, one woman looks back at the years she spent as John Hughes’ pen pal.

Just a small appetizer on this day of sun/clouds/sun/clouds/sun. Bon appetit!

All this talking about other bloggers…I’m tempted to do what the character Julie did in “Julie and Julia,” when she felt like she was shouting into the vast emptiness of the intarwebs…

Who’s actually reading this thing? Hello? Anybody there?
