20 Things You Might Not Know About Me | Blacksburg Belle Blog Tag

This blog post is a part of the “20 Things You Might Not Know About Me” Blog Tag started by April from Blacksburg Belle. She began this blog tag experiment to build community among creatives, help us bloggers to connect more and get to know each other better. This month’s topic is all about sharing just a little too much information about yourself. If you’d like to participate or want more info, check out the beginning post right here.

Figured I’d post this to kick off the first week of NaNoWriMo 2014! Thanks for the tag, Sarah Shotts! Let’s a-go!

Question 1: How tall are you?

5’2″. I’m fun-sized!

Question 2: Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what?

I’m an Olympic class procrastinator! Haha! Usually if I have something I enjoy doing, and have done a lot, I gush about it. But my husband thinks I’m a really good cook! I don’t really talk a lot about that, but I think it’s fun trying new, tasty-sounding recipes.

Question 3: What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve?

That writing a post always takes longer than I think it will 😛 And that it’s so easy to get behind schedule.

Question 4: What’s your biggest non-blog related pet peeve?

Miscommunication 🙁

Question 5: What’s your favorite song?

Like, in my life, ever? Wow. Deep. Well, the one that immediately springs to mind is, “Something in the Water” by Brooke Fraser. It always puts me in a good mood, and I end up singing and harmonizing by the end! And then I put it on repeat.

Question 6: What’s your favorite Etsy shop that isn’t yours?

LennyMud is one of my very, very favorite stores! She’s a potter and a painter, and for hot drink lovers, she’s a must for every tea-loving geek’s cabinet. It’s the only shop I’ve bought from multiple times (other than yarn shops).

Question 7: What’s your favorite way to spend your free time when you’re alone?

It sounds so lazy writing it down, but I love catching up on all my favorite funny Youtube and Vine accounts, and following the rabbit trails, and just letting my mind unwind however it wants. If I have a bowl of cereal to eat and my cats are relaxing nearby, that makes it even better.

Question 8: What’s your favorite junk food?

Pretty much anything sweet, especially if it involves chocolate and/or peanut butter in any form or combination. That or sugary cereal.

Question 9: Do you have a pet or pets? If so, what kind and what are their names?

Of course! If you follow me, you’ll know that I have two cats that I love very much: Pangerbon & Demosthenes, better known as Panger & Moss. Panger is floofy and white with a stubby tail, and Moss is shorthaired and glossy black.

Question 10: What are your number one favorite nonfiction and fiction books?

For non-fiction, “Captivating” by John & Stasi Eldredge really encouraged me in a tough time. It reminded me that I had value all by myself as a beautiful and strong woman, and that my Heavenly Father had an amazing part for me to play in a huge adventure. For fiction, the “Lord of the Rings” series. Hands down. It had such a powerful effect on me as a lover and writer of fantasy. Plus, it was a heck of a good read!

Question 11: What’s your favorite beauty product?

Vibrant jewel-toned eyeshadow, especially any shade of purple! 😀

Question 12: When were you last embarrassed? What happened?

A coworker at the plant nursery had set aside some pansies to buy later. Things were getting slow at the end of the day, so I went over to admire them. One of them was dusty pink and deep purple with white edges, and it was so cute I just leaned in and said “Hello!” And overcome with its cuteness, I gave it a little air kiss right in its face. Content with my expression of affection, I turned around…to see a male customer holding a flower pot, looking at me with a bemused expression. All I could think to say way, “I love pansies!” 😛 I told my coworker later, and we giggled.

Question 13: If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tea! It goes with a lot of different kinds of foods, and I could have it hot or iced, sweet or not! I don’t think I’d ever get bored, but I think I’d miss milk. Or wait, could I have milk if I put it in my tea?

Question 14: What’s your favorite movie?

Hands down, the entire Lord of the Rings series (which is no surprise, based off my book choices above). I think my favorite of those three is The Two Towers, at least last time I really stopped to compare.

Question 15: What were you in high school: prom queen, nerd, cheerleader, jock, valedictorian, band geek, loner, artist, prep?

Awkward artist/English nerd. *fist pump*

Question 16: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

I do love where I live now, but if I have to choose…Franklin, TN. *happy sigh* Or London, if I had the cash.

Question 17: PC or Mac?

PCs allow for easier customization, for installing more programs or other hardware, and are very affordable. Macs are beautiful and sleek to look at and work on, and come with some amazing programs built in. And I know how to use both, so I choose both!

Question 18: Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse?

I was in a slump over some unfinished work, and I was so exhausted that I just wanted to blow it off. Wervyn asked me if there was anything that would help, and I told him, “I’ve been craving ice cream for weeks. If I had some, I think it would really give me my second wind.” So he went out and bought me some tiny cartons of strawberry Häagen-Dazs. It worked! <3

Question 19: Favorite celebrity?

I’m not as into celebrities as I was when I was a teenager, so I’ll say Orlando Bloom 😀 I bought a fan magazine and everything…and I was too embarrassed to read it because he was so pretty 😛

Question 20: What blogger do you secretly want be best friends with?

I’ve admired K.M. Weiland for years! I’d love to be her friend in real life <3

 TAG, YOU’RE IT!
  1. Y.I. Washington, my new awesome author parter in crime who writes sci-fi and is helping me edit my novel. Her drive to write, get published, and blog really inspire me!
  2. Sarah Madsen, an author friend I met at the Atlanta Writer’s Conference in 2012. She’s been published in an anthology, writing primarily supernatural or cyberpunk fiction. We’re way overdue for a hang out session. Plus I want her to blog more 😉
  3. M.G. Boal, my husband Wervyn’s (so technically my) cousin, who is a super talented writer, and just started a new blog (and interviewed me). He writes mostly sci-fi, and I want him to post more and get more followers! 😀
  4. I’m gonna steal this from Sarah, and invite anyone else who wants to do it! Just comment with a link so I can see your answers 😀 Feel free to vlog, if you’d rather!
